The A.C.N.M. Foundation, Inc.

The A.C.N.M. Foundation, Inc. (the Foundation), incorporated in New York in 1967, is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation with an IRS designation as a public charitable corporation. The Foundation’s mission is to promote excellent health outcomes for all people and communities through the support of midwifery, which is accomplished in many ways, none more important than the support given to midwives and student midwives to help them succeed professionally.

The American Midwifery Certification Board (AMCB) is the national certifying body for candidates in nurse-midwifery and midwifery who have received their graduate level education in programs accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education (ACME).

Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education (ACME)

The Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education (ACME) is an organization established to advance and promote excellence in midwifery education. The aim of ACME is to ensure that programs are performing at the highest level of quality and providing learning experiences that will lead to optimal outcomes for students. ACME is a reliable authority regarding midwifery education. Since 1982, ACME has been recognized by the U.S. Department of Education as a nationally recognized programmatic accrediting agency for nurse-midwifery and midwifery education programs. ACME is a proud member of the Association of Specialized and Professional Accreditors.
