ACNM Corporate Group Membership
Is ACNM's Corporate Group Membership Right for You?
ACNM has developed a new Corporate Group Rate. Does your employer pay for your membership? Do they pay for all their midwives’ memberships? Now they can pay ACNM directly and get a group rate. If you are an employee, administrator, or business owner looking to take advantage of this special rate, fill out out interest form to receive more information.
The ACNM Corporate Group membership is for CNMs and CMs currently working as midwives. It is not available for students, retirees, or other employees in your practice. Professional Development as a Key Employee Benefit
Employees in all fields (including midwifery) are very interested in the professional development benefits their employer can offer. This interest has only increased in recent years.
According to the 2023 Employee Benefits Survey by the Society for Human Resources Management (SHRM), 67% of employees ranked professional and career development benefits as being very important or extremely important. This marks a significant increase from recent years, and an adjustment from reported priorities during the COVID pandemic.

Employers are responding to the demand for employee benefits in professional and career development.
According to the 2023 Employee Benefits Survey, approximately 8 in 10 employers provide formal training or education for their employees. 87% of employers cover costs for professional memberships, 78% of employers cover costs for certifications and 77% of employers cover costs for licensure. The Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) reports that 2023 marked a 5 year high-point for the percentage of employers offering these benefits.
Small Organizations Are More Likely To Pay For Membership in a Professional Association as an Employee Benefit
56% of ACNM members report working for an employer or practice with between 1 and 7 employees. According to the SHRM 2023 Employee Benefits Survey, smaller organizations are more likely to pay for certification fees or membership in professional organizations than large employers. Liz Supinski, Research Director for SHRM, noted that “For smaller organizations, they simply don’t have the money, time or staff to have large in-house training programs…this is something they can do to support the development of their employees without having to build out a larger program”.
Group Membership Details
Process
- Contact ACNM and complete this interest form. This will let us know about your employer (hospital, birth center or midwifery practice) and the group of midwives who will be part of the Corporate Group Membership.
- ACNM will then call you to assist! We’ll need to know the total number of midwives who will be part of the group membership and their contact information.
- ACNM will invoice your employer for the group membership.
- Once that is paid, we will set up the 1 year ACNM memberships for all midwives in the group. ACNM will notify each individual separately to notify them of their membership. Each new member will have unique credentials (username and password) to access member resources.
State Affiliate Membership
- ACNM operates through the national organization as well as 50+ State Affiliate organizations. It is required by our Bylaws that members belong to both the national organization as well as their appropriate State Affiliate.
- State Affiliate Dues are collected by ACNM, and then remitted to each State Affiliate, minus a 3% administrative fee. This fee is paid by the State Affiliate, not the members. The cost of membership dues is set independently by each State Affiliate, and the cost varies from state to state
- The invoice for the corporate group membership will include the cost of membership in both ACNM and the appropriate ACNM State Affiliate.
PAC Funding
ACNM does not use membership dues for contributions to political campaigns, lobbying, or other political activity. Midwives PAC is a separate organization from ACNM and operates on voluntary contributions only.
Tax Deductibility
ACNM makes no guarantees regarding the tax deductibility of membership dues. Please consult your own tax advisor for further guidance.
