Addressing Mis and Disinformation in Contraceptive Care – A discussion with CECA and PTD

The webinar hosted by Coalition to Expand Contraceptive Access (CECA) and Power to Decide (PTD) in collaboration with ACNM addresses current challenges surrounding access to contraception amidst political and advocacy attacks, with a heightened emphasis on the role of misinformation and disinformation (MDI). These challenges include attempts to redefine pregnancy by focusing on fertilization rather than implantation, which not only poses risks for both providers and patients, but also contributes to widespread misconceptions.

Since Fall 2022, CECA has united stakeholders to develop a responsive, proactive, and collaborative strategy for contraceptive access in a post-Roe environment. Through this process, five focus areas and goals emerged, refined by key stakeholders, which can help shape an effective strategy. Significant attention has been given to the second focus area, which addresses contraceptive MDI. PTD has been actively working to raise awareness about these issues, particularly the risks associated with redefining pregnancy and the implications for access to sexual and reproductive health (SRH) care.

The webinar aims to engage ACNM members by presenting key insights from the Post-Roe Strategy and equipping members with practical knowledge and tools to effectively address MDI related to SRH care.
