Expanding Midwifery with Certified Midwives: Successful Strategies for Licensure and Beyond

This session will provide an overview of the Certified Midwife (CM) credential in relation to ACNM’s strategic vision, along with a detailed examination of the current practice environment for CMs. The presentation will highlight successful advocacy strategies for expanding CM licensure and securing full-scope practice authority. Participants will also explore opportunities to expand the midwifery workforce and consider what future advocacy campaigns might look like.

At the conclusion of this session, participants will be able to:
1. Provide an overview of the CM credential in the context of ACNM’s strategic vision.
2. Describe the current practice environment for CMs.
3. Outline successful advocacy strategies in three different states to achieve CM licensure with full scope authority.
