Attendees learn how to perform immediate pre-op preparation of the client for surgery\, and during surgery provide optimal surgical exposure\, participate in tissue dissection\, ensure hemostasis\, perform or facilitate wound closure\, and perform other intraoperative functions to assist the surgeon in carrying out a safe operation that optimizes outcomes.

DESCRIPTION:Maternal immunization remains a critical component of prenatal care and a key strategy for protecting pregnant people and their infants from respiratory illnesses. To help you prepare for the upcoming respiratory virus season\, the ACOG-led Maternal Immunization Task Force is hosting a webinar for health care professionals and public health agency staff focused on the prevention of COVID-19\, influenza\, and RSV during pregnancy. This webinar will provide an overview of the latest clinical recommendations and guidance for maternal immunization and equip health care professionals with the information they need to confidently counsel and vaccinate pregnant patients. \nParticipants will also learn practical strategies for vaccine storage\, handling\, and administration and pharmacy access to support efficient implementation and improve patient access to recommended vaccines. SUMMARY:Unbundling is Coming: Making Sense of New Perinatal Billing and Coding for Midwives
DESCRIPTION:The transition from global maternity billing to unbundled maternal care coding represents a significant change in reimbursement\, documentation\, and workflow for midwifery practice. Recent changes to the American Medical Association (AMA) Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) Code Set adopted by Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) require clinicians to report antepartum\, intrapartum\, birth\, and postpartum services separately rather than relying on traditional global OB package codes. This activity prepares midwives to apply new coding requirements across the continuum of care.\n\nParticipants will learn the appropriate codes for prenatal\, postpartum\, and other outpatient visits; antenatal hospital admission; birth; and inpatient and outpatient postpartum care through case-based examples and coding scenarios. Attendees will also learn to distinguish straightforward and complex labor management in order to bill intrapartum care. SUMMARY:State-Level Associations Between Poverty\, Rurality\, Midwifery Care\, and Birth Outcomes: A Secondary Data Analysis
DESCRIPTION:This session will present findings from a state-level secondary data analysis examining associations among poverty\, rurality\, midwifery care\, and adverse birth outcomes across the United States. The presentation will situate the study within current maternal and infant mortality trends and persistent rural and socioeconomic disparities in maternity care access. Participants will review the study design\, analytic approach\, regression findings\, and exploratory interaction effects suggesting that the relationship between midwifery care and birth outcomes may differ by rurality. The session will also consider the implications of these findings for maternity care systems\, workforce planning\, and public health policy. SUMMARY:Midwifery Week 2025: Clinical Strategies for the Screening & Identification of the Most Common Mental Health Disorders in the Midwifery Setting
DESCRIPTION:Approximately 26% of women in the US experience a mental health disorder\, 7.1% have a serious\, persistent mental health disorder. Of these persons only half will receive treatment. Without diligent screening\, mental health disorders will go unrecognized. The midwifery clinical setting is an ideal place to implement an evaluation process for identification of symptoms associated with mental health disorders. This will allow formal diagnosis and initiation of the treatment process through education\, medication management.\, therapy\, or referral.
