SUMMARY:Midwifery Week 2025: Getting Virtual Care Right: Three case studies exploring high-risk maternity care for the individual and group care patient
DESCRIPTION:This presentation examines the implementation and outcomes of a virtual Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH) model designed specifically for high-risk maternity care. Through quantitative analysis and detailed case studies\, we evaluate how digital health technologies enable comprehensive care coordination between virtual specialists and local in-person providers. The model demonstrates successful integration of behavioral health services\, group care\, medical nutrition therapy\, and specialty consultation that maintains fidelity to relationship-based care principles and midwifery best practices. \n  \nPresented by Amy MacDonald\, CNM\, MSN\, FACNM

SUMMARY:Midwifery Week 2025: Clinical Competencies for Suturing and Perineal Repair
DESCRIPTION:This presentation introduces recently developed clinical competencies for suturing\, post-birth assessment\, and repair of birth-related tissue trauma. Detailed skill-specific clinical competencies provide an innovative framework for learning\, teaching\, and evaluation of skill acquisition. Explore how competencies can improve birth equity for clients and across the midwifery profession\, ensuring that all midwives have the education and skills to be confident and competent when assessing the need for and performing wound approximation after birth. Examine how clinical competencies present new ways for learning and teaching of suturing skills. \nPresented by Nell Tharpe\, CNM\, CRNFA\, MS\, FACNM

SUMMARY:Addressing Mis and Disinformation in Contraceptive Care - A discussion with CECA and PTD
DESCRIPTION:The webinar hosted by Coalition to Expand Contraceptive Access (CECA) and Power to Decide (PTD) in collaboration with ACNM addresses current challenges surrounding access to contraception amidst political and advocacy attacks\, with a heightened emphasis on the role of misinformation and disinformation (MDI). These challenges include attempts to redefine pregnancy by focusing on fertilization rather than implantation\, which not only poses risks for both providers and patients\, but also contributes to widespread misconceptions. \nSince Fall 2022\, CECA has united stakeholders to develop a responsive\, proactive\, and collaborative strategy for contraceptive access in a post-Roe environment. Through this process\, five focus areas and goals emerged\, refined by key stakeholders\, which can help shape an effective strategy. Significant attention has been given to the second focus area\, which addresses contraceptive MDI. PTD has been actively working to raise awareness about these issues\, particularly the risks associated with redefining pregnancy and the implications for access to sexual and reproductive health (SRH) care. \nThe webinar aims to engage ACNM members by presenting key insights from the Post-Roe Strategy and equipping members with practical knowledge and tools to effectively address MDI related to SRH care. \n  \nPresented by \nLisa Stern\, RN\, MSN\, MA\n \n \nRaegan McDonald-Mosley\, MD\, MPH\, FACOG

SUMMARY:Ideas to Action: Using change management to get things done
DESCRIPTION:Midwives face numerous challenges each day in providing high-quality\, compassionate care. While we often recognize the problems and have innovative ideas to address them\, turning those ideas into action can be difficult. This interactive webinar offers a practical strategy for moving from insight to implementation through a structured change management approach. Participants will learn how to deeply understand the issue\, create alignment among stakeholders\, and implement small tests of change to introduce new ideas gradually. There will be opportunities to discuss common barriers to change with exploration on how to address them. The session will provide a clear roadmap to guide quality improvement initiatives in midwifery care\, equipping attendees with the knowledge\, tools\, and inspiration needed to drive meaningful and sustainable change. \n  \nPresented by Annie Heath\, DNP\, CNM\, PCC\, FACNM
