SUMMARY:Midwifery Week 2026: Clinical Strategies for the Screening & Identification of the Most Common Mental Health Disorders in the Midwifery Setting
DESCRIPTION:Approximately 26% of women in the US experience a mental health disorder\, 7.1% have a serious\, persistent mental health disorder. Of these persons only half will receive treatment. Without diligent screening\, mental health disorders will go unrecognized. The midwifery clinical setting is an ideal place to implement an evaluation process for identification of symptoms associated with mental health disorders. This will allow formal diagnosis and initiation of the treatment process through education\, medication management.\, therapy\, or referral.
