American College of Nurse-Midwives Statement in Recognition of National Nurses Week

As National Nurses Week is celebrated across the country from May 6–12, the American College of Nurse-Midwives (ACNM) proudly recognizes and honors the incredible dedication, compassion, and expertise of nurses in every setting of care. This week is a special opportunity to express our deepest gratitude to our nation’s nursing workforce — including certified nurse-midwives (CNMs) – who embody the very essence of patient-centered care.

“Nurses are at the heart of our healthcare system and play a critical role in improving health outcomes across the lifespan, stated ACNM CEO Michelle Munroe, DNP, APRN, CNM, FACNM, FAAN.  As such, ACNM remains committed to advocating for policies that support growth and development and increase access to nurses and midwives, including policies that ensure nurses and midwives can practice to the full extent of their education and training.”

During this National Nurses Week, we stand in solidarity with our nursing colleagues, recognizing their invaluable contributions and advocating for the respect, resources, and support they rightfully deserve.
