Preceptor Resources
*If you are a Program Director click here to access the Preceptor Database.
Educational institutions rely on preceptors, practicing professionals in the clinic setting, to provide an opportunity for students to apply their knowledge and skills in the field. They are a vital part of the education of future health care practitioners and their role is complex. They must utilize skills in teaching, mentoring, supporting, assessing and evaluating.
This web site has been designed for preceptors of midwifery and nurse practitioner students. A team of faculty from several graduate midwifery and advanced practice nurse programs collaborated to create this web site with tools and training for preceptors in the clinic setting. Its purpose is to provide practical ideas and training to assist preceptors in their role.
This website has been approved for preceptors by the Directors of Midwifery Education (DOME) in 2011.
