ACNM holds or has applied for service mark registration on all of its graphic images and taglines. While we are supportive of member use of some of these elements to show their affiliation with their member organization, we also must avoid an implication of ACNM endorsement of products, services and political statements that do not originate from the national office. Therefore, ACNM has developed these guidelines to assist you in using these elements. Camera ready art is included with these guidelines or may be obtained upon request from the ACNM national office.
All references to the "ACNM logo" in this publication refer to the new "with women" image.
The ACNM logo is to be used in its entirety, which is the logo, ACNM name, tagline and trademark emblem. Neither the logo nor the tagline may be used independently without approval of the national office.
ACNM logo and tagline
The logo can be used on members' business cards, practice letterhead and advertising, and educational materials. However, the words "Member of" or "Members of" must appear above the logo and the entire logo cannot exceed 1" in height for business cards and 1.5" in height for letterhead. If the logo is used in educational materials, it can only appear on the last page or panel and not exceed 1.5" in height. Nothing in the usage can imply an ACNM endorsement of the practice or materials. Only current members of ACNM can use the logo in this manner. If the logo is being used by a practice, all CNMs/CMs in the practice must be current ACNM members. The tagline, With women, for a lifetime, may not be used by itself.
"Mother and Child"/Journal logo
Use of this logo is reserved exclusively for Journal of Midwifery & Women's Health and ACNM use.
ACNM Seal
Use of this image is reserved for official ACNM documents, such as certificates, ballots and corporate uses.
Use of logos for products
ACNM logo usage is intended for educational and marketing purposes that use the logo to note members' affiliation with their professional society. Use of the logo for product development, such as jewelry, t-shirts, tote bags etc. will not ordinarily be allowed. Request for logo use in this manner should be sent to the ACNM Executive Director.
Chapter letterhead
For consistency and convenience, the ACNM national office has developed camera ready art for chapters to use for their letterhead. The art is generic and the chapter will need to insert the chapter name and address. However, most printers will provide that service at a nominal fee. Chapters are reminded that chapter letterhead is not to be used to express opinions or positions that are contrary to those of ACNM or are not consistent with ACNM's mission or philosophy.

Chapter Web site
ACNM will be developing a home page template that chapters can use. Otherwise, chapters may use the ACNM logo for their Web site as long as the words "Chapter of" are included above the logo.
Other Service Marks
'Listen to Women' and 'Blankets for Babie's are service marks of ACNM. 'Listen to Women' is reserved for ACNM use only. The 'Blankets for Babies' name and logo can be used by ACNM chapters and organizations with ACNM member affiliation. However, a service mark emblem (SM) must be placed next to the name and the following wording must be placed on any marketing materials, "Blankets for Babies is a public service campaign initiated by the American College of Nurse-Midwives."
CNM and CM
The certification designations CNM and CM are registered service marks of the American Midwifery Certification Board, Inc., (formerly the ACNM Certification Council, Inc.) and may be used only in accordance with their guidelines.
Non-Member Use
Non ACNM members may not use ACNM logos, taglines or other images. However, ACNM may enter into contracts and/or licensing agreements that permit logo usage under very specific terms.
Affiliated Organizations
Affiliated organizations, such as the A.C.N.M. Foundation, Midwives PAC and the American Midwifery Certification Board, Inc. (formerly the ACNM Certification Council, Inc.) may enter into separate agreements governing use of these services marks.
Colors
The ACNM logo is designed to be printed with Pantone color #323 for the logo and tagline and #662 for the ACNM name. Other colors may be used, but the logo and tagline must remain legible.
