The goal of this initiative is to address the critical shortage of nurses and midwives on medical faculties in resource constrained countries. Placements will be in nursing schools and teaching hospitals with the goal of augmenting the staff of those institutions. Volunteers are needed to work in close collaboration with the Ministries of Health, Education, and other institutions to increase capacity and strengthen the quality and sustainability of nursing/midwifery education and clinical practice.

Nurse Trainers and Educators licensed in the United States and experienced in a clinical specialty are needed to help fill faculty and teaching needs as well as help strengthen the nursing education and delivery in public sector health systems. The Nurse Trainers and Educators will work closely with existing faculty, nurse leaders, and members of the institutional professional development team in the creation of curricula and appropriate clinical modules, as well as assist in the establishment of course/clinical goals and outcomes, and methods to effectively evaluate programs. Volunteers will serve as a resource for faculty and students, providing lectures and in-services, advice on evidence-based nursing practice, as well as access to the latest research in specialty areas.
