The ACNM 57th Annual Meeting & Exposition was an overwhelming success! With attendance topping 1600, it was one of the best-attended Annual Meetings of the past decade. The meeting also attracted a record number of exhibitors and sponsors, greatly contributing to the success of the meeting.
The high-energy Opening General Session set an uplifting tone for the meeting. A full-house was treated to a tribute to midwives in the military, and an impassioned welcome from Rep. Lucille Roybal-Allard, the top maternity care champion in Congress and an inspiring call from keynote speaker Soo Downe to recognize the importance of midwives’ role in promoting normal physiologic birth. In another rousing general session, International Confederation of Midwives President Frances Day-Stirk roused the crowd by calling on ACNM members to reclaim and elevate the midwife “brand”—to “Talk Midwife, Walk Midwife, Be Midwife.”
Thank you to all the midwives, students, exhibitors, sponsors, the ACNM Board, affiliates, divisions, committees who contributed to the success of this meeting. Above all, a special thanks go to the Long Beach Host Committee and the Program Committee under the leadership of Martha Goedert, CNM, whose leadership was a major factor in achieving success. Thank you also to all of the ACNM 57th Annual Meeting sponsors and exhibitors.
